Bio: Mary Ellen Shorten

Mary Ellen has lived on and off in the Rogers area since 1981, but was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, where she married for the first time and had four boys. In her other life, before retirement in 1987, Mary Ellen was working as an engineer. She also worked in graphic arts, and drafting, for the old AT&T Company, before the breakup.

Working for “Ma Bell” required a few transfers around the country. She moved from Detroit to Chicago, to San Francisco, to Kansas City, and finally to Rogers and her retirement.

Rogers is such a beautiful area of the country, situated in the Ozark hills of northwest Arkansas. We want it to always stay this beautiful, and that is part of what this alternative, "Solar energy" is all about.
